Winston 2

Please meet little Winston! Winston was dumped by his owners at the edge of a neighborhood street between the last house and the field. For 4 days straight he sat in that same spot waiting for his owners to come back for him. People called, watched and notified, but no one even so much as took him a bowl of food!! Luckily, with a little convincing, we were able to get this scared little boy to come home with us. While he was very stressed, we found that 15 mins in an air-conditioned car makes a world of difference for a tired little guy! Personality galore!! When we got home, it was super clear that Winston was a house dog and had no interest in being anything but a house dog again starting immediately.

Winston loves to play and play-with stuffed toys, balls, nyla bones, rawhides, kongs, other dogs, pretty much anything! While Winston will destroy his stuffed toys in a matter of minutes, he isn't destructive in the house. Winston is house trained and learned the rules of his foster home quickly and does not jump up on the furniture. He knows "sit", down", "wait", and to come to his name. He sits and waits patiently for his meals and to go through doors. Winston does not do very well in a crate, but is fine confined to a room or even loose in the house. He knows his spots and will go settle down on his bed or put himself to bed upstairs when its time to go to sleep. Winston is approximately 3 years old and is full grown at 37lbs. He has energy and does well in an active home. He loves to go on walks and to go running and can happily lope along for up to 8 miles and counting. He's been camping and hiking and to the beach and to the dogpark and loves all those things too. W just wants to be with you and having fun! He does well with other dogs and the kitty cat in his foster home-in fact Winston would do best in a home with another pet for him to play with. Since Winston is really just a big kid himself and learning to handle excitement he should not go to a home with small children. Winston is a smart dog and a quick learner. He thrives on instruction and will need a strong leader at home. Chaotic household and lackadaisical leaders will not be able to provide the kind of home that Winston needs. People were not very nice to Winston in his past life and while he is a very happy dog the majority of the time he will  need a future home that has the patience to work with him to help him continue to overcome some fear issues-he has already made huge strides and is looking forward to enjoying the good life from now on. Look at that cute face-how can you resist him!
