Friends,

Meet precious Tyson! Tyson was rescued from the LaPorte Pound. The animal control officer insisted that his owners turn in his father (Murphy), his brother (Dexter), and him for neglect. They were being left outside and were not being fed. Tyson is now in a wonderful foster home. He started out timid and scared, but boy has he blossomed in the past couple weeks!

Tyson is possibly a golden retriever/setter/pointer/border collie (!) mix of some sort. He is a little over a year old and currently weighs about 58 pounds. He is great with other dogs and likes to herd them (that is where we think the border collie comes in). Tyson has a totally sweet disposition and was wonderful when his foster family had to weather through Hurricane Ike. He is friendly to everyone he meets. Tyson still has plenty of wonderful puppy left in him, and he likes to bark when he meets new things. For example, when his foster family's water delivery arrived, he barked at the bottles for a while, as if to say, "Bottles on the porch! Not supposed to be there! Move! Move! Move! Move! Move!"

He loves to lie on the tile floors with his head on a blanket, and he loves run around in the backyard and even just lounge around in the grass where he can roll around like a nut! At this time we recommend Tyson not be in a house with cats, because he's still a big puppy and might play with them too roughly. We think Tyson would be fantastic with another medium to large dog. He is really good with all dogs that he meets and loves to play. When he had to visit the vet, he sat like a very good boy--all calm and collected. Tyson is also great with kids--he is just excited to meet all people and loves to be pet! Tyson's fosters are working on crate training and house training him, and he is doing really well, because he's eager to please his people. However, like all rescues, he may need a little refresher course when he goes to his new home. He will definitely make someone a fantastic dog. He just wants love and to be a big old lap dog!
