Talk about sweet – they don’t get any sweeter than Toots!  Despite all that she has been through, this precious girl is always happy and loving!  Just so you have an idea of her background, we have tried to recap below.

Several months back we were contacted by another local rescue group and told about poor Tootsie's story. She had the misfortune of ending up in a home with insensitive people. She was in a home with a small child and he was her world!  Well, one day the dad decided they did not want her any longer and that’s how we came upon this beauty!

When we first met Tootsie, we could tell that she was very stressed, scared and missing her family, especially her boy. She was just salivating and would not come out of her kennel. Who could blame her – she had been a family pet her whole life up until that point.  So we sat with her and petted her and talked to her for a bit to let her know that she was ok. After a few minutes she came out of her kennel and started to open up. It's all sunny skies from here on out for this great girl and she is looking for her true home where her family will love her as much as she loves them.

 Tootsie is one of the sweetest and friendliest dogs you will ever meet!! Since getting to her foster home she has blossomed and is the PERFECT dog. She is completely house trained and does not mess with anything in the house when left unsupervised. She gets along with dogs, cats and people of all ages. She adores kiddos and would make a wonderful family dog.  She has the typical Rottie personality, caring, loyal, affectionate and cuddly. She’s pretty low-key, but loves a good game of chase with her foster brother in the backyard.

Tootsie was very overweight (about 130lbs) when we got her and has started going swimming (with her life vest) about once a week and going for walks, and is losing her weight.  She loves to go swimming and immediately took to it by watching her canine foster brother, Hatch.  She has done great and has lost about 20 pounds, but still needs to lose about another 10lbs. Tootsie has some knee problems that were due to her weight but she has had surgery on one knee and the weight loss is helping her get around better.  Tootsie loves to hang around with anyone who will give her attention and cuddle on the couch if you let her.
