Friends - Meet Toby!! He is one fabulous doggie that just came into Scout's Honor's adoption program and REALLY needs a home or foster home!! Toby was rescued several months ago by Doberman Rescue, but alas, is not a purebred Doberman, but he still is a lovely boy. Doberman Rescue realized this when we went out to evaluate a “Doberman” that had been homeless for over a year. Toby might be a rare Australian Kelpie or Kelpie mix. Their traits include intense loyalty, focus, trainability, and endurance. They are known for their great watchdog skills and are affectionate and devoted. Apparently, poor Toby was being fed occasionally since he was very young pup by people who eventually moved away, and left him unfed and homeless - again. Back out on the loose and drastically thin, he was spotted and Doberman Rescue called. Toby was recently transferred to Scout's Honor (an all breed rescue) in hopes of finding him a home faster since all people going to Doberman rescue are looking for dobermans, he's just not getting the exposure he needed to get him the home he so deserves. While living on the streets, people were pretty mean to Tobey...and some kids would throw rocks at him and taunt him...but Toby, the kind soul, has not lost his love with humans and does great with kids. Toby is also good with other dogs. We are unsure of cats but think he will be fine. Today Toby weighs about 45 pounds and he is at a good weight. Toby is a little over one year old, so the stark reality of this guy’s existence is really terrible. He has never had love, a family or a home of his own. Some say that he won the lottery that day and but, we kind of think we were the winners. We get to save this great guy who is just as sweet and affectionate and trusting as they come. Life has given him nothing but hard knocks and he has kept his great nature intact. He clearly wants to be the apple of someone’s eye!! How about yours?? Tobey is a male, neutered, possibly Australian Kelpie or Kelpie mix. He is about a year old. He is up to date on all of shots, neutered and will be microchipped upon adoption. Tobey is SUPER -SMART and learns very quickly. Sadly, due to a lack of available foster homes, Tobey has been living in a kennel and would love nothing more to be in a home of his very own...even if you can't adopt, please consider fostering Tobey. Scout's Honor will provide a crate, cover all medical costs and provide food for his foster home.
