Meet Toby!

Toby's life started out as a sad story, but we are determined to give a happy ending. A friend of Scout's Honor went to BARC to look at the dogs scheduled for euthanasia and found this extremely handsome young Shepherd mix that was simply beyond terrified to be there. Toby just hid his head in the corner and did not want to really move. Once he got up, we were surprised how really gorgeous and young he was. It made us so sad to see such a young dog so traumatized. One can only wonder at what horrible things he had already endured in his short life. With some TLC and good care from his fabulous foster family, Toby slowly came out of his shell and has turned into one very sweet guy. He has made huge improvements in his foster home and has even started to smile and seek out the company of his temporary human family.

Toby is still on the shy side and low-key. He likes getting attention from the people he knows and will play a little from time to time.   He really loves being out in the yard with his foster siblings to play chase and throw toys around, but he will need a permanent home with at least a 6' fence - like many shepherd mixes, he can jump a lower fence in a single bound. Toby loves to go on walks and is very good on his leash. He is also 100% crate-trained and really enjoys going to his bed, as it is his "safe spot."

What Toby needs now is a special forever home with a lot of loving patience to give, as he takes a while to warm up to new people and trust them. He is a gorgeous young dog with a lot of life in him and we are confident he will make a great, wise companion for the right person. This guy really needs a chance to shine and see that some people are not bad! He would definitely do best in a home with at least one other dog, as he loves the companionship and learns by watching others.

Toby is a super healthy boy, neutered, up to date on vaccinations and micro-chipped.
