Hi! My name is Stevie. I am a great Dane/Sharpei/and other stuff mix. I’ve recently been told by my vet that I’m approximately 7 months old so that would make me an Aquarius.

Now before you discount me due to my disability (I am ocularly challenged or blind if you’re not politically correct : ) read on about my fabulous strong points.

1.        As I am still a puppy, I have a moderate energy level. I’m not one of those puppies that constantly bounces off the wall.   As long as I get my daily exercise, albeit a brisk jog or walk, I pretty much like to lounge during the day.

2.        I am pretty darn good on the leash considering that I’m blind AND I’m actually a fabulous jogging partner. That might seem oxymoronic but it’s to your advantage. Since I’m dependent on you,   I pretty much stick to your side and since I can’t see those pesky squirrels I won’t rip your arm off chasing after them. You know the type: the dog who is constantly darting off to chase anything that moves while the owner has to repeatedly shout ‘leave it’.

3.        I can already navigate stairs. I sniffed a puppy while out peeing yesterday. My foster mom told me he   was challenged by the stairwell and he has his eyesight!! Just goes to show that you don’t have to let a disability limit you.

4.        I’ve got a short coat so you won’t be vacuuming up dog hair constantly.

5.        I’m really smart and learn quickly. As referenced in strength #3, I’m not going to let a disability hinder me from doing all the things a ‘normal’ dog does.   And to assist you in training me, Scouts Honor will graciously offer sessions with their dog trainer so that I can easily adjust to my new environment.

Now for weaknesses:

1.        Did I mention that I was ocularly challenged? Yet is that really a weakness? Like I said, with the right ‘forever home’ I will not let my disability keep me down. Take for example Stephen Hawking. Look at all of his accomplishments and he’s confined to a wheelchair. So I’m really not as high maintenance as you might think. Once I get adjusted to a new environment you will come to realize that I’m really no different from any other puppy.

2.        I like to make up words….such as ocularly challenged. There is no adverb form of the word ocular. I like to sound more sophisticated than I really am ; ) I’m reading “The Screwtape Letters” by C.S. Lewis right now (in braille of course). That dude had a huge vocabulary. I’m constantly asking my foster mom to look up a bunch of words he uses in the book….like redolent!!!!

Stevie is a wonderful boy who is looking for his forever home.  He's neutered, up to date on vaccinations and micro-chipped.
