Spirit 1

Nearing a busy intersection I saw a collarless dog trying to cross the street and held my breath as six cars came inches from running him over. Although I already had four rescue animals, I could not walk away and so put him in my car and headed straight for the vet and the groomers. The comment everyone makes when they see "Spirit" is that he looks like a Walt Disney mutt destined for stardom. He is 1 to 1 1/2 years old, 57 pounds with a blackish, punk hairdo. Spirit is being neutered this week and has already received all of his vaccinations. He is in good health except for a very slight case of heartworms. So slight that the vet recommend he be started on heartworm preventative medication as the best course of action. I have a six month supply which will go with him. Spirit is full of fun and love and wants desperately to be a part of our home. Unfortunately I have two cats and I am not sure he can be trusted in that regard. Therefore he is kept outside and it is breaking my heart watching him move from window to window with those big brown eyes emploring me to let him be a new member of our home. Being a terrier mix (according to the vet who says terriers are very smart) he learned to sit in just about 5 minutes. Yes! Five minutes! Also, I have put him in the kitchen at night and every morning I am delighted to find that he has been a perfectly mannered young man. He wants to be an indoor dog and I believe he can be house trained quickly.
