Spencer is one incredibly smart boy. This boy, at just a year to year and half old, managed to stay alive for over a month living along I-10. Now that takes some brains.
Spencer was first spotted in early March at I-10 and Shepherd, but when approached would just run like lightning. This is most likely when he was first lost or more likely dumped. He was absolutely terrified. Then several weeks later we got a report of a border collie near Arne's. When he was spotted it was with great delight that this boy was still alive, but unfortunately he was still not willing to just come on in.
After a few more tries some others who had become concerned with this boy's safety decided to try to trap him. In less than 30 minutes of setting the trap, there he was lying down safe and sound. He knew it was time to come in.
Spencer is in a foster home with one of these wonderful ladies and gets along well with other dogs. He is an active boy, but then again he is a young border collie. If he weren't active then we would have reason to worry. He is not fearful now that he is safe. His fears were clearly a result of him being alone in the world and near so much traffic. He is now just your happy fun loving guy.
Spencer is a smooth coat border collie, about 1-1.5 years old, up to date on vaccines, neutered and heartworm negative. He gets along with other dogs and children and would be a great addition to an active family. If you are looking for a couch potato, he is probably not your boy.
