Sophie

Please meet sweet Sophie! Sophie is a 2.5 year old black and tan Doberman with adorable floppy ears. She has a sparkle in her eye and is very smart. Sophie is such a sweet girl and just loves her people and other dogs.  Unfortunately, Sophie is losing what she thought was her forever home because her parents have babies on the way and they do not feel it is the right home for Sophie any longer.  So, Sophie needs a new forever home, one that will remain her forever home through thick and thin!

Sophie is housetrained and will sit nicely in her crate after a bit of initial separation anxiety. If a crate is not required, she is a good girl when left alone in the house, as long as she has gone out to potty and there are no chewable items lying around. She waits by the back door for her dad to get home every day. She sleeps very well on her bed in her parent’s bedroom and also loves to snuggle.

Sophie loves to go to the dog park and to doggie daycare, where she has been Dog of the Week! She really enjoys playing with other dogs as long as she is not on a leash around them. She does not walk well on a leash when other dogs are in sight and has a lot of anxiety in this scenario. She really likes other dogs, and the leash keeps her from playing with them causing her frustration. She would absolutely thrive in a home with a yard as she loves to be outdoors to run as much as she loves being indoors to snooze. Sophie has lived with both a very small Chihuahua and a very large Doberman and gets along famously with both. She is not a cat person, so no cats for her please!

She likes activity as much as she loves to lie next to you and cuddle. She knows when it's time to play versus when it's time to just hang out in the house and be calm. She knows basic commands like sit, stay, and wait. Sophie’s favorite toys squeak or sing and she plays very well by herself.

Sophie loves people, but may take time to acclimate to newcomers. She may have some anxiety when meeting new people, but always comes around! She does not do well with small children because their unpredictable movements make her nervous, so homes with babies and toddlers are not for her. Sophie is a very sweet girl, who loves to hug, have her ears rubbed, and just spend time with you!
