Meet Sweet Skye: Sweet Skye is a 40lb lab mix who we think is about a year old. He was rescued by one of our volunteers who had gone skydiving in Rosharon and saw him lying in a drive way at a garage station at the intersection of 288 and FM 1462. Hence the name Skye. The garage owner said poor Skye had been hanging around the garage all day as if he was waiting for someone to rescue him. Fortunately, after offering him some food our volunteer was able to coax him into her car and take him to her vet. We think that Skye may have been attacked by another dog since at the time he was found he had an injury to one of his front legs and he is blind in his left eye. The vet stated that he had been injured for so long that the muscles in his front leg were very weak and wasted due to lack of use. Despite all his troubles, Skye has made an incredible improvement. With some good food in his tummy, vetting and a lots of love Skye he has put on over 5 lbs, all his fur has returned and he now is able to put weight on his leg and you can barely tell that it was injured. Also, the fact that he is blind in his left eye has no affect on him what so ever.. Skye is a wonderful dog who probably will not get much bigger, maybe another 5 lbs. He is fully vetted, up to date on his shots, neutered and microchipped. Since he is a young dog he is fully of energy and loves to chew and play, he is great with other dogs but wants to chase cats. He has been to training and is a quick learner, he can sit and stay and is almost house trained. (Initially we had a few little accidents but recently he has always indicated when he need to go outside.) Skye will make a wonderful loving companion and pet.
