Meet ADORABLE Ronin, the tiny Chug!  Ronin is guesstimated to be a Chihuahua/Pug (“Chug”) mix, and boy is she a cutie patootie!  She is around 4 years old and is a wee 17 pounds.

Ronin was rescued from the Sharpstown streets in November by a SHR volunteer.  This sweet little lady was all alone in the rain begging people at an apartment complex for food.  The SHR volunteer knocked on several doors trying to find her owner and was told by all that she had been wandering around for at least a few weeks in the area.  At that point the volunteer decided to put Ronin in her car and try to find her a better life. 

The SHR volunteer who rescued her is currently fostering her, and Ronin is looking for a forever home!  Her current foster has fostered several other dogs before, and says Ronin is absolutely the sweetest little girl.  She is completely potty trained, great running free in the house, and walks well on a leash.  She is low energy and has never once barked!  It seems as though at one point she must have had a loving home before becoming homeless.  She’s a tiny little snuggle bug; is very affectionate; and loves people very much, which is amazing considering she was abandoned by someone previously.

Another wonderful thing about Ronin is that she is a distemper survivor.  Way to go Ronin!  She is perfectly healthy now, but does have a VERY slight tic or sway, which is common for distemper survivors.  The tic is hardly noticeable unless Ronin is completely still or sleeping.  She is not in any pain or discomfort, and it’s quite amazing she survived distemper with just this one little side effect.

Ronin is good with other dogs and pretty much ignores them (she’s a cuddler, not a player).  Until she feels secure, she should be separated at feeding time because she tends to protect her food (hey, she was on the streets and never wants to be without food again!).  She has not been around cats or kids, but we are pretty comfortable that she would be fine in a home with cats and great in a home with kids.
