Rocky 6

Friends,

Great ready for a true “Cinderella” story that stars Mr. Rocky!  (Okay, so in this story, Cinderella is a boy, but work with me here).  This boy has traveled one of the roughest roads I have seen to date, but look at him now! 

Rocky is a cocker spaniel mix and is approximately 6 years old.  He was dumped at BARC with his brother Apollo because his owners could no longer care for them.  Unfortunately, the stress of living at BARC was too much for Apollo, and he died right before Rocky’s eyes.  As you can imagine, Rocky was extraordinarily depressed after being dumped by his long-time owners and then seeing his brother die.

Then, to top it off, Rocky tested positive for distemper—which we believe was a FALSE positive because he never showed one symptom.  Unfortunately, that false positive caused him to have to sit in a kennel for sixty days. 

Once he was cleared to go to a home, Rocky went to one of our best small-dog foster moms.  She called me that day and said she had never seen such an emotionally bereft boy.  She said it would take months to turn him around.  But within a week, Rocky wagged his tail, and now he is playing like a puppy.  

His foster mom says he is the easiest foster she has ever had (and she’s had lots!).  He is fully potty trained and crate trained and is great with cats and other dogs.  He is a true cuddle bug and would love to spend his days sitting in your lap or right beside you on the couch.  And, really, “sitting” is not the right word for it—I think “wallow” might be the more appropriate description as you can see by Pictures 2 and 5.
