Retha

Retha is a very special case that we just couldn't pass by. Poor Retha's owner died recently and her owner's heartless family dumped her at BARC to be put to sleep right after Christmas. Imagine how this girl must feel - the anguish, grief and freight at losing her mom or dad and then being dumped. First her loving owner of 12 years is gone and then she is put in a dark, scary cell at BARC not knowing what is happening.

Well of course no one who came to BARC was interested in a 12 year old dog with health issues, so she was scheduled to be euthanized. We couldn't let sweet Retha's life end like that, so we took her in and she will live out her days with dignity like she deserves.  This beautiful sweet girl gave her whole life, no doubt loving her mom or dad unconditionally, only to be abandoned by "family" members.  She was obviously cared for and loved by her former owner as she is in good shape for a girl of her years and heartworm negative.

Our vet says that there is nothing really wrong with Retha except her senior age and all that goes along with it. She is a bit arthritic and has poor vision, but nothing that worries the vet and nothing that a loving home and soft bed can't alleviate. However, along with these minor health issues comes a giant heart. Retha is a sweetheart and wants nothing more than someone to give her love and attention. She is a very low-maintenance kind of girl, just needing food, love and a comfortable place to rest her head. 

Please consider letting this precious girl into your home. She spent the last 12 years of her life in a home with love and sitting in boarding is no place for her. She was dumped at BARC on 12/28/12 and has been sitting in boarding for weeks now.  This is your chance to be her savior in her golden years!
