Meet Pilar or Miss “P”,

Pilar is a petite 3-4 year old female Rottie that only weighs about 50-60 pounds. As you can see, Pilar has only 3 legs. How she got that way is a sad story. She was picked up as a stray by the SPCA because she was seen with a serious compound fracture of her left front leg which had the bone sticking out of her leg. Unfortunately, she had been that way for a while and by the time she was picked up the leg was very infected and had dead tissue. Because of the infection, there was no way to save her leg and so it had to be amputated.

However, being left with three legs has not slowed her down one bit! She gets along great and loves to literally bounce around on her one front leg when she plays. She can even run pretty quick when she wants to. Pilar LOVES toys and will just play with her toys constantly for long periods of time. She will shake them and toss them in the air, and then go to her toy box and keep getting more toys out to keep playing, before you know it, the room is filled with toys.

Pilar is a sweet girl who craves attention once she gets to know you. Amazingly, despite all the horrible things this baby girl endured, she is an incredibly happy little girl. She gets along with other dogs and loves to play and would do great in a house with other dogs. However, she would not be good in a home with cats as she thinks they are just big squirrels and wants to go after them.  She also needs to go to a home without children – they are just too unpredictable for her.

She is a leery of strangers when she first meets them, and who can blame her after what she has been through. At first she is a timid and apprehensive, as we are sure she was abused at some time in the past. Once she gets to know you and realizes that you are going to be nice to her, she is a sweetheart. You just have to take things slowly with her, but once she trusts you, she will love you forever and love to be right by your side.  She has been working with our trainer some to get over her fear of strangers and is doing well, but her new home or foster will need to be diligent with her training and rules. Scout's Honor will also have our trainer work with anyone who is interested in adopting Pilar.

Pilar is house and crate-trained. She does great unsupervised in the house and usually you can find her curled up or laying on her back with her legs in the air on her favorite bed.  Check our Miss P playing with her buddy!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjipTCXkeHg&feature=youtu.be

Pilar is such a sweetie that just wants a place where she can bounce around and play until her heart's content with a family that understands her and is patient with her. Please consider giving this girl a place to lay her head and be safe forever.
