Penny 1

Sweet Penny is ready to bring her new forever home some luck!  Penny's a young Saint Bernard/hound mix, fully grown at about 35 pounds.  Penny was living in a parking garage when she was rescued, but she's quickly adapted to indoor life.  She's fully crate trained and housebroken and has had no accidents in her foster home. 
Penny loves other dogs and plays hard, so she would do best with an active companion dog.  (There are four dogs in her current foster home, and she gets along with all of them.)  She is best suited for a home with no or older children, because with people, she can be a little timid.  She responds best to gentle treatment.  She seems to adjust more quickly to women than to men, but with time and love, she will probably outgrow most of her timidity.
She has quickly learned her name and basic commands like "No" and "Down."   Sometimes she's shy about coming through doors, but she responds to treats for training and rewards.  She will need a well-secured yard until she truly understands what a forever home and family are.  Initially she liked to dig; she now seems to understand she shouldn't, but may have to learn again in a new yard.
Penny loves chewing toys and marrow bones and may need a little training to know when chewing isn't appropriate.  Because she's been such a fast study and wants to please, all she needs is the right attention and lots of love and praise to give you her heart and grow into a beautifully behaved dog.
