My name is Penelope and I am a survivor! So my life didn't start out too great, but I am determined to have happily ever after!
 
I will not dwell, but I want you to know a little bit about my background. I am from Beaumont, Texas. Somehow, the family that I called my own lost me and I ended up at the Beaumont pound. The people there actually found my family, but they told them that they were too busy to come pick me up and surrendered me. I was heartbroken. Little did I k now at the time, but the town was going to euthanize me. Luckily for me, my amazing personality won them over and they decided to spare me. Well, It went from bad to worse when the shelter that I was staying in caught on fire. I was one of the few survivors in the big fire that totally destroyed the animal shelter in Beaumont. Talk about scary and devastating – I lost some of my friends that I had made at the shelter that were homeless too in the fire. I know that they are at the rainbow bridge having a ton of fun though.
 
Well, the Houston Humane Society brought me and 18 other survivors to Houston to try to find us permanent homes. Unfortunately, because I have bad hips I was not a candidate for adoption (all other 18 of my friends found homes) and was scheduled to be euthanized when Scout's Honor Rescue said that they could help me out. Woohoo!
 
Scout's Honor took me to a specialist to take a look at my peculiar walk. I had a lot of images taken of my whole body - kinda weird. Anywho, the vet said I just have some deformities and maybe an old injury that healed on its own and contributed to my walk. He said no surgery is needed for me!! Talk about a sigh of relief!! Who wants to have surgery?! And, I think my walk is cute and it gets me all sorts of attention - just what a social butterfly like myself loves! 
 
In the meantime, I would really love to get out of boarding and into a comfortable home where I can sleep on a soft bed. I really like everyone I meet and am pretty much a social butterfly. I have canine friends too that are medium and large. I don't want to brag, but everyone that meets me instantly falls in love with sweet little me! I'm great with all my canine friends - of all sizes! 
 
I am currently heartworm positive (not contagious) but please don't let that keep you from meeting me. Scout's Honor is treating me through the "slow-kill" method of treatment and they would be more than happy to discuss it with you.
