Otie (Otis) was rescued from the home of a "collector"--a person who had too many dogs to care for properly. He was one itchy guy and had a case of heartworms to boot! Now, this adorable fox terrier cross, who is about 1 year old and weighs in at 28 pounds, is vaccinated, neutered, undergoing the end of his heartworm treatment, and ready to find his new forever home. Otie is one of those dogs who is very special in that he is exceptionally smart and needs a lot of love and attention. He becomes very bonded to his owner (according to his foster mom), and he needs somebody who is experienced with dogs and can spend a lot of time with him. Otie is housebroken and well-behaved around the house, napping and spending time with his owner. He can become anxious when left alone, as he is afraid that he is being abandoned again--so he needs a loving, understanding owner. Otie is clever and will be very trainable. He is learning to walk on his leash, can sit for treats, and waits quietly to have his leash attached--he takes care of business as soon as he gets outside, then quietly walks back to the door. He would probably be a great agility dog. He loves to play (with you and with other dogs), and he is a quick learner.
