Nehla was found wandering loose in Austin, Texas, and after a series of events (being bounced around), she ended up in our program.  She recently lost her running buddy and started escaping out of her yard, so instead of working to keep Nehla in the house, he threatened to put her down, and a good Samaritan stepped in.  Now Nehla is living at our vet and needs a foster!

Nehla does not know a stranger, including children, and will jump into anyone's car for a ride.  She is great with other dogs.  She would prefer to sit quietly with you, or on you!  She settles down quickly in the house and when she learns where you would like her to lie, she will stay there.  She retrieves from water and sometimes will catch a frisbee in the air. She has never been a barker, except when she is chasing someone walking a dog on the other side of the fence. 

Her only bad habit is escaping, especially during thunderstorms, which she started doing when her dog sister died.   She is sensitive to loud noises and loud voices and is easily trained and controlled with your voice and seems to understand when she is corrected.  She also seems to enjoy the "safety" of her kennel.  Nehla is perfectly housetrained and can go a long time without having to go outside. So even if someone took her out 3 times a day, she would be just fine -- she has a huge bladder. She has perfect house manners and if you assign her a place to lay a couple of times, she will make that area her own and usually return there.  She also know sit, stay, come, shake hands, lie down.  What a dog!!!

Nehla would do great in an active home with an owner who will play with her and exercise her.  She is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, and microchipped.  She is a very loving girl!
