umpy is quite the survivor! He was found abandoned with his mother and brother, but unlike his friendly family, this little guy was scared of humans and hesitant to be held or touched. It turns out this little guy had good reason to be cautious; he had been bit by a snake!

When he was found he had a large lump on the side of his neck about the size of a ping-pong ball. By the next day it had turned the size of a baseball. When we brought him and his family to our vet the swelling was so great that his breathing was impaired and the vet suggest we put him down. After emotional pleading to try and let this guy live the vet suggested we drain the swelling 4 times a day but made no promises of survival. Thankfully the drainings worked! This guy is back to being a normal puppy with no evidence of his former struggles. He frolics around the house gleefully, plays with our other dogs with enthusiasm, and LOVES humans. He follows us around everywhere we go and pleads to be held at all times. It seems like Lumpy won't ever take life for granted. He is a happy, healthy puppy that would love a happy human to call his own.
