Meet Jester!

Jester is one tough cookie! One of our board member’s husband's was out on TC Jester (hence her name) this past weekend and saw a jerk in a pickup truck speeding by and this little girl was in the back. We don't know exactly what happened, whether the jerk hit a bump or she just jumped out, but all he saw was her flying out of the back of the truck, hitting the pavement and flopping end over end down the road. Amazingly, she was able to get up and stagger. She was very scared and disoriented, but our volunteer was able to get her, got her in the car and rushed her to VERGI (our emergency vet).

She has some road rash but luckily no broken bones. The vets said she had a temperature of 106 when we got her to there, probably from being stuck in a metal pickup bed in 100 degree heat. The vets were able to give her IV fluids and get her temperature down to normal. She is on pain meds now and resting comfortably. She's definitely a miracle girl and the vets do not anticipate any long-term issues and she is otherwise a healthy little lady.

Jester is a little black Basenji Mix and only weighs 25lbs full grown. She is about 1 year old and just a spunky little thing. Only a few days after her near death experience, she's up and about and wanting to play and cuddle.

Won't you please consider fostering this little girl, she doesn't take up much space at all. After her crash landing she just wants a soft place to lay her head.
