Black Labrador Retriever / Labrador Retriever (short coat) • Male • Adult • Large
Meet Iggy! This happy pup was picked up running down HWY225 down in LaPorte a couple of months ago and found himself stuck in a shelter that was full. Lucky for Iggy ( and now for us because we love him so much!) , he had already stolen the hearts of all the workers there and was sprung by Scout’s Honor! Iggy is your happy labbie boy. Happy to take a car ride, happy to go on a walk, happy to give you a kiss, happy, happy, happy.
When we first picked Iggy up and got him to the vet, we found that he had some injuries likely caused by a recent hit from a car. A dislocated hip, some broken teeth and both ears terribly infected. Never once did Iggy's tail stop wagging even though he much have been in so much pain. He has had more vet visits than he thought he would have his entire life. The orthopedic surgeon fixed his hip up too! His foster parents have helped him get his leg strong again and now he is just as fast and agile as his foster siblings!
Iggy a black lab mix & is 60 pounds and approximately 2 years old. He has never met a stranger and has a permanent smile on his face! He loves to play ball/fetch! As many times as you will throw it, he will happily go get it. He is well behaved and quiet in the house and in his crate. He's pretty much mastered "sit" and "wait" and is good on "come" and he'll happily "go to your room" when he needs to go in his crate. He is pretty good on his door and food manners now, knowing he has to wait before proceeding and will sit to get this ball thrown. His fosters have taken him to several restaurants and coffee house, whole foods patios and he does very well and settles in nicely. He will make a perfect dog for someone who is looking for a companion and likes their dog to accompany them. He also doesn't need tons of exercise so he'll do fabulously with someone who just likes to take walks and play some fetch.
Iggy has been on his first trip to the beach and his first hiking/camping trip all in the last month. He rocked them both! He splashed around the lake, mastered sleeping in a tent and loved running in the ocean!
