Hi, My name is Honey.   I am a 7 year old Retriever Mix and full grown at 42 pounds.   My owners of seven years ran into hard times and I am now in need of a new forever home.   I instantly stole the hearts of everyone at the shelter.  I am sweet, gentle and loving.   My name fits my honey colored coat and my extremely easy going, mellow disposition.   I am spayed, micro-chipped, up to date on shots and flea prevention medication.

If you want to adopt a dog but you are not able to deal with puppy rowdiness or puppy house training, then I am definitely your girl!  I am a low maintenance pet suitable for families or single folks.

My foster mom has fostered over 20 dogs and she told me that I am the most well behaved and the most eager to please of any of her previous foster dogs.   I am completely house trained and crate trained.   I have not had any accidents in the house. I let my people know when I need to go outside for a potty break.   I will quietly talk to my foster mom and touch her gently with my paw.   Mom understands my signal and we go out for a break.   Everything is great with our communication system.    I know several commands such as sit, down, and shake hands.   When Mom asks me to kennel up at night for bedtime, I go right in my crate with no muss or fuss or argument.   Some children are not that well trained for bedtime!

I am eager to please my foster mom and I really try to do exactly what she asks me to do as quick as a wink.  

I love to go on walks around my neighborhood.  I go walking with Mom in the morning after breakfast and then again in the evening.   I like to see what's going on in the neighborhood and I take care of business on my walks.   Mom takes her small foster dog and me walking at the same time and we walk great together.   We both stop courteously for each other to take care of business and then we resume walking side by side at a nice easy walking pace.    

I am a great alarm system.  I will bark only when there are people close to my home outside.   Other than that, I am not noisy around the house.

I love to be petted and brushed by my foster mom.   I absolutely love to lie at my foster mom's feet while she watches t.v. at night.   If my forever family allows me on the couch or bed, that would absolutely be heaven for me!

I have two other small dogs (a Llasa Apso and a Shih Tzu)  in my foster dog family.  I get along great with the other dogs since I recognize them as part of my dog pack.   Please do not adopt me if you have cats in the household since I am not particularly fond of cats.  They look too much like wild prey to me!  They are just too sneaky for my tastes.
