Havan

This poor baby girl was found by one of our board members after we got a call with a possible "Rhett" sighting. She had been hanging out along the farm ditch in Braes Heights for about a week, two pictures of her on the bayou and two once she was really safe. She had a pretty good set-up with some good tree cover but clearly not a place for this sweet baby girl.

We wanted to believe with all our hearts that she was simply lost and we would find her home. But after a week of continuously checking websites and posting signs in vet clinics, grooming facilities, and pet stores and finding roadrash on the underside of her chest and foreleg we sadly realized this baby girl was dumped. How could someone do that to her? She is a wonderful loving dog.  

It took a week from the first sighting to finally get this girl to safety. After feeding at least twice a day for several days, our board member was finally able to touch Havan's paws and then the next day was able to full hand pet through the fence. And though she expected a fight and some flailing about when the leash went over Havan's head, instead, a sweet little girl came from behind the piece of fence she hid behind and cuddled in as tight as she could. She realized she was safe for the first time in a very long time.

Havan is starting to learn that she is safe and does not have to be scared anymore. She is incredibly sweet and willing to trust. Her next step is to learn to have fun again and know that she does not have to worry.  She seems to love other dogs and is great with kids who understand that she has been through a lot and is working on becoming the fun loving girl she deserves to be.

Havan is vaccinated, spayed, and will be microchipped soon. She is probably 2-3 years old and around 55-60 pounds. She may be a lab/retriever/australian shepherd type of mix. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Havan please contact us right away at info@scoutshonor.org.
