Friends, Meet Greta! Greta is our newest rescued Rottweiler from BARC (Houston pound). She was picked up as a stray in a bad part of town and was on the short list for euthanasia due to her being extremely emaciated (maybe one of the worst we've seen in quite some time). Luckily, BARC released her to us early under a medical release, so she did not have to sit at BARC for days and be exposed to disease and depressing conditions. Although Greta is a decent size Rottweiler she weighed only 49 pounds when we rescued her, at least 30-40lbs underweight. Amazingly through all her hard times she has maintained a stellar disposition! She is just the sweetest girl and wants nothing more than to lay down and have you pet her. She will just put her head on your lap and look at your with her big, brown beautiful eyes.  She is very gentle and every time she looks at you you can see the appreciation in her eyes. Right now our vet estimates that Greta is about 4-5 years old.  It was very hard to tell because of her horrible body condition. Sometimes they initially seem to be older than they actually are just because of the hard life they have endured. We are working on getting plenty of groceries in her belly to get her back to a big, beautiful, healthy girl.  She's already put on over 20lbs since we rescued her and is an absolute beauty!

Greta attends doggie daycare and gets along great with other dogs. You can see her and her buddy, Zane, in one of the pictures.  Greta is just an amazing girl who has a real zest for life now that she feels better (probably first time in her life). She is such a beauty and quite the character! She has a very expressive personality and just loves to gallop. She looks so funny with her long legs, but you can tell just how happy she is.  She walks well on a leash and loves to ride in the car too.

Great is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and micro-chipped.  She's currently in a great foster home where she lives with 2 male dogs and does great with them.  She is also totally house-trained and never gets in trouble when her foster dad is away.  Greta is your typical wonderful, laid-back Rottie.
