Friends, Please meet my little foster "Fruit Snack." Fruit Snack got his name because when I brought him home, he was just 4 pounds, and my husband said: "You better watch him around Lloyd [our big pit mix] because Lloyd will eat him like a fruit snack." The name stuck, and now at a whopping 13 pounds, he still looks like a fruit snack next to Lloyd (although they are now the best of friends). Fruit Snack was the product of some people who were breeding pitties in their back yard. Fruit Snack was the runt of a litter of 4 and could not get to his momma's milk, and the evil owners were letting him starve. Luckily, a nice neighbor lady convinced them to let her take him to feed him, and he ended up coming home with me. When I brought him home, he was so emaciated and lethargic I was worried at first whether he would make it. The first picture shows his ribs, and he had the boniest butt. But he has grown into quite a gorgeous and big boy. Fruit Snack is approximately 11 weeks old. He is great with dogs (he absolutely loves them) and cats (at least while he is still a puppy). He is crate trained and silent at night (although I can't resist getting him out of his crate and putting him in bed with us to cuddle early in the morning). We are working on potty training, but he is using puppy pads with more consistency. As the pictures show, Fruit Snack is an equal opportunity cuddler, cuddling with me, my dogs, and my cats. He loves to bounce around the house playing with everyone and stealing my dog Calvin's food, playing tug of war, and nipping at my ankles -- a typical puppy! As much as I don't want to, I have to adopt out Fruit Snack. I am very attached to him, but I have too many dogs of my own. Fruit Snack will be neutered when he is old enough and still needs the rest of his puppy shots. I also encourage anyone who adopts Fruit Snack to take him to the free puppy play time on Saturdays at Pup Scouts. Fruit Snack loves dogs so much, and it is important to keep him socialized. There is a $125 adoption fee (which covers his shots, neuter, and microchip), and interested adopters must fill out an application. And Fruit Snack will be at the Meet and Greet in the Heights this Saturday, February 2. Please forward!
