Ernie 1

Ernie was rescued in the middle of a very bad rainstorm last week.  We learned that Ernie had been living in the woods (probably dumped there), eating scraps of food that people would leave for him.  Ernie is some sort of lab mix.  The vet approximates his age at 1.  He is extraordinarily sweet natured and is looking for a home or foster ASAP! 

Ernie does not know a stranger at all.  He would prefer to sit quietly with you, or on you, which we are working on. After 5-10 minutes he settles down by either cuddling up to you or laying at the foot of the bed. 

Ernie didn’t know what a dog bowl was, what treats are for, what to do with dog toys and that the super comfy orthopedic dog bed on the floor was for him.  He has learned though that the human beds are great for napping or watching a movie.  He is frightened during thunderstorms and cries.

Ernie appears to be housetrained as we have had him for almost a week and no accidents.  He definitely has learned that air conditioning is a great thing and rarely wants to be outside, unless of course you’re outside with him.  He really just wants to be anywhere you are.  Everyone that he meets is shocked that he doesn’t have a home since he’s so sweet.  He jumps up and gives you hugs.  Ernie has already learned sit, which took him only a couple times using praise and no treats.
