Dottie

Dottie is a sweet pittie momma who was rescued from BARC with her three puppies several months ago.  We named her “Dottie” because she has a dot behind each of her ears. When we rescued Dottie from BARC, she was very scared and concerned for her pups, who were very young.  She was a good momma and kept her babies close and licked and nuzzled them. Through it all, she was gentle and sweet. Some horrible person, presumably her former owner, brought her into BARC on a heavy chain that was around her neck.  It was the saddest thing you have ever seen with her 3 babies just hurrying behind her to keep up with their momma. 

Now Dottie is in the most fantastic foster home.  Her foster mom has been able to tell us tons about her. 

Dottie is super loving and loves to give sweet kisses.  She may be timid when she meets new people, but she will warm up pretty quickly.  Dottie is good on a leash.  Her foster mom is training her to heel.  She is a good runner, currently running 4 miles with her foster mom, and her foster mom thinks she could keep going.  Dottie is an active girl, but very calm around the house.  What a great combo!  When she is walking with her foster mom, she does not bark back at dogs when they bark at her.  She does not bolt after cats or squirrels.

Dottie is also obedient.  When she is told “no,” she will stop what she is doing.  She is inquisitive around the house, but she is not destructive or messy at all.  Dottie likes to be very close to her humans.  Her foster mom is working on a little anxiety when she leave the room Dottie is in.  But she will get better once she knows she is in a safe place.  She is good with other dogs and is also crate and house trained.

Dottie loves her Kong (but what dog in her right mind would ignore the peanut butter?!), but other than that she is not really in to toys.  She does like to dress up for Halloween in her pumpkin costume, however.  See the attached picture for some serious adorableness.

Dottie’s foster mom says she is a lot of fun to have around the house and is as sweet as can be.
