Meet little Dewey!

about a dog that was turned in by its owner with a leg injury, and what we discovered took our breath away. This person’s dog had gotten out, but eventually returned home. However, when he returned home his right front leg was completely torn off. Our vets think it looks like some kind of animal did this, but are not positive. Regardless, it is just gruesome to look at and imagine the pain this poor baby has endured. Just imagine this poor little dog gets its leg ripped off and he still returns home to his owner. But unfortunately for Dewey, instead of rushing him to the vet to help him, his owner took him to
BARC
and dropped him off. We just had to help him!
He underwent surgery immediately at our vet and his leg was amputated. Amazingly, our board member who rushed to get him said that he just sat in the car on the way to the vet, bright and alert, and actually wanting to climb over the seat to be close to her. Everyone who has met him has said he’s just a doll. His surgery went great, he is getting around really well now and has settled in fabulously at his foster home.
Dewey is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and micro-chipped.
He’s a little guy, only about 17lbs, approx 3-4 years old and appears to be a Pomeranian/Finnish Spitz Mix. He's great with other dogs and has great manners.
