Friends,

Meet adorable Daphne!  I am not sure you remember, but about a month ago, we sent out a plea to help this little girl.  Her before picture is at the bottom of this email.  She was at BARC and was severely emaciated.  We were able to rescue her and get her into a wonderful foster home.  Well, look at her now!

It turned out that Daphne was not a lab mix.  She is too small.  Although the picture made her look bigger, she was just 16 pounds when we got her.  I am happy to say, in just under a month, she has DOUBLED her weight and now weighs a healthy 32 pounds!  And she is ready for adoption!

Daphne looks to be kind of a weimaraner/viszla mix.  She doesn’t have the pale iris around the pupil; instead, her eyes look like big chocolate drops.  She is around a year old.

Daphne is a good eater and sleeper, and she took her medications after her spay without a fuss.  She is crate trained and, for the most part, house trained.

She walks well on a lead, and like any young dog, it wouldn’t hurt for her to get some basic puppy training.  Daphne has learned to sit, shake, and lie down.  She comes into the house when called by name.

Daphne has a very sweet, gentle personality.  She is also very playful with our other dogs.  She “roughhouses” with her foster sister and harasses her foster mom’s old yellow lab.  She loves to chew on hard and soft toys, and she has never chewed on anything but toys.  She loves to sprawl out on the biggest dog bed in the house and likes to be covered with a blanket.  She will also join the other dogs on the bed if she needs a spot to sleep. 

Daphne likes to follow her humans around the house.  In fact, she's quite attached to humans.  She likes to snuggle when her humans are watching TV.   She is a fabulous companion.  She will also bark to give warning bark that someone is coming to our front door but quiets down quickly.  She rides well in a car.

Daphne loves to run around outside so she would do well with an enclosed backyard and daily walks.

Although it may take her a few minutes to get use to human strangers, she warms up quickly.   And she is not afraid to make direct eye contact.

In sum, this is one perfect little dog.  It is amazing that she is so well-adjusted and happy after what she went through!
