Cowboy is one very handsome and very cool dude. He a 2 year old Pittie and earned the ranks of the longest resident at LaPorte this year. Cowboy had been at the LaPorte shelter for MONTHS. Unfortunately, there are always lots of Pitties around trying to find a home. So when I asked the ACOs if they could only save one dog, the answer was a resounding "COWBOY!". How can you refuse a boy with a glowing recommendation like that? There are a lot of people in Cowboy's corner, so we think now that he is safe, he will find a home super quick. He is 63 pounds of lean muscle and shiny coat (he needs to put on approx 5 pounds to fill out a bit). He will talk to you as well when you ask him to talk and is happy to give kisses on command. To sum it up, Cowboy is a stud, as everyone will see as they meet him!
Cowboy was lucky enough to get a foster home for a few weeks, and while he was a great house guest, he needs some practice on the leash and his previous foster Mom didn't think she was the person to work with him- so back into boarding he has gone! This sweet and endearing boy is back behind bars and would love to get back into a foster home ASAP!
Cowboys top DISLIKES- boarding in a kennel, and thunderstorms. Boarding, we can resolve with a foster home. For the thunderstorms, he just needs a bed (and even a human) to curl up in when the storms come. He huddles down and seems no worse for the wear after.
Cowboy's top LIKES :
1. Riding in cars! This is so much fun, and you will not find many that ride as well as Cowboy. He gets an instant smile on his face when he gets in the car.
2. Playing tug of war! Really, we can all walk around and each hold one end of the toy all day and Cowboy would be a happy camper.
3. Playing with other dogs and running like maniacs around the yard! YIPPEE!! Fresh air is something that Cowboy gets a limited amount of, and he doesn't waste a moment outside where he doesn't enjoy it completely.
4. Football- both playing with one and watching the real game with you. You have a dedicated Sunday football buddy with Cowboy..right in time for the season!
5. Soft Beds- Cowboy LOVES soft beds. He never tears it up either. He likes to take it with him on car rides too- plop it in the back and you won't hear a peep from him. This is when the big-baby effect comes into full force and he can snuggle with with best of them.
