Meet Chico! Chico is a little Chihuahua mix that had a BIG problem. Chico had a growth on his front leg the size of a tennis ball, which is huge for a dog this small. A good Scout's Honor volunteer had seen him for a couple days just hanging out at a convenient store but couldn't catch him. It seemed like he had been dumped and was waiting for someone to come get him as he just waited there - just looking. We kept trying to catch him and could get close and feed him, but never could get him. Finally, we were able to catch him and get him to our emergency vet right away. The vets did x-rays and examined him and felt he needed the leg amputated because the growth was so large, possible intertwined with the underlying structures and he would not have any skin left on his leg to close the wound. The specialist concurred and he underwent a very successful surgery to remove his leg and is doing GREAT! The growth was totally benign, so it will never pop up again.

Chico is a super sweet boy and loves to be cuddled. He has plenty of spunk for a little guy, but is equally at home just sitting on your lap watching some TV. Chico is a little guy at only 13 pounds and about 4-5 years old. He's very well-behaved, house-trained and gets along great with other dogs. He's a totally cuddle-bug! Only having 3 legs does not slow this boy down at all!!  He also loves to sport his outfits that his foster mom puts on him.

Please consider letting Chico into your home. He doesn't take up any space and is an easy going boy.

 

Chico is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and micro-chipped.
