Meet Chevelle!

Chevelle and his buddy were dumped in the Garden Oaks area right around Christmas. Neighbors spotted them sleeping in hedges and drinking out of puddles of water. We were able to get his buddy, Fresno, fairly quickly last week, but little Chevelle was just too scared and would not let us get near him. It was just heartbreaking leaving him all alone when we took Fresno to our vet. We tried to get him over the weekend, and even took some dogs out to help coax him. He loved playing with the dogs, but would not come near us. Well, after being unsuccessful this weekend, we got the call Monday morning that we were waiting on – Chevelle was in our trap. A caring person put a trail of bologna from the street to the trap and that did the trick.

Chevelle was a bit nervous at first, but warmed up nicely with some treats and some TLC! He did very good at the vet's office with the vet poking on him and giving him vaccinations. When we got him to the boarding facility where his buddy Fresno was, it was so touching to see the reunion! They just ran and played out in the yard and Fresno is teaching Chevelle that not all people are bad. Just within 30 minutes of watching Fresno bounce around and seek attention, Chevelle was willing to walk up to us to be petted. In no time he came out of his shell. He LOVES every dog he meets!

Chevelle appears to be a Flat Coat Retriever mix. He is approximately 2 years old and weighs in at a petite 35-40lbs. After a thorough examination by our vet, he seems to be in good health, and is heartworm negative. While on the streets he and his buddy Fresno would just sit and watch the kids leaving the school each day. He would just sit there like he was waiting for someone, really anyone that seemed nice, to encourage him to come along home with them. Chevelle is very calm and gentle. He has does wonderful at his foster mom's home and has never had an accidents.  He obviously lived indoors at some point in his life.

Chevelle is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and micro-chipped.
