Meet Charlee!

Charlee came to us as an owner surrender. This sweet girl did nothing wrong. Her "family" claimed they didn't have time for her and dropped her off with her harness still on. She was trembling at the shelter and we could not leave her behind! Charlee is potty trained, heartworm negative and ready for a TRUE family that has the time and resources to work with Charlee to undue some of the damage done by her original "family" and won't abandon her!

As you can imagine, Charlee's world has been turned upside down and because of that she has a lot of anxiety and will need someone that can be very patient and work diligently with her and her needs. She needs slow introductions but once she bonds with you and knows you mean her no harm, you have a friend for life, a very protective friend at that. Charlee has been around other dogs and can do well with proper and PATIENT intros. She will need to go to a very experienced home (or home familiar with her breed) with someone who will give her time to decompress and blossom. She is not the kind of dog who would do well in a very social and ever-changing setting.

Charlee is in an amazing foster home and loves being just with her foster mom. She likes the consistency of being in a low-key household without a bunch of new visitors. She may do best as a single person dog because of this.

Please note that Scout's Honor Rescue is located in Houston, TX and only adopts animals in our program in Houston and immediate surrounding areas.  We regret we cannot consider applications outside of the Houston area, but in our 15+ years of experience, we find it best for the dogs' well-being to stay local and we require home visits.
