Meet Castle!

Castle is a big noble Anatolian Shepherd mix that we came across at BARC (Houston Pound). When we first saw him he looked so sad and was just curled up in his run and wouldn’t stand up. A volunteer opened the door to his run and put a leash on him and he slowly got up but had his tail between his legs. We took him out for a while and spent some time with him just giving him some attention and slowly his tail came out from between his legs and he became more affectionate. Poor Castle's problem is he is depressed as his the people who he called his family turned him into BARC. After he was dumped at BARC, he almost got bailed out by another rescue group that was sending dogs to a rescue in another state, but they ran out of spots on their transport and didn't have room for him. Well, he finally caught a break with us and it's sunny skies from here on out for Castle!

Castle is only 1-2 years old, but he is an old soul and very calm and walks great on a leash. He gets along GREAT with other dogs and has gone to doggie daycare. While he’s a pretty calm guy, he does love to run and play with other dogs.  He’s in a great foster home with 3 other large canine foster brothers and does wonderful.  He’s also great with kiddos as you can see from one of the pictures!  He’s very gentle and “watchful”.  He loves to be brushed and petted and would love nothing more than to climb up in your lap to cuddle.  He would be an AMAZING family dog! 

Castle is totally house and crate-trained.  His foster parents don’t even put him in his crate any longer when they are gone – he’s that good of a boy!  He’s a super smart boy too!  He’s learning to "sit" but he does better with "stay".  Maxx and Titus (his Rottie foster brothers with no tails) think it’s because his tail gets in the way and he can’t sit as good as them!
