Casper 1

Meet sweet Casper!  Casper is a loving, and super handsome, blue pit bull, who is approximately 3-5 years old.  Casper’s short-term foster time was up, and now poor Casper is in boarding.  We really need a new, long-term foster for Casper ASAP.   Please consider being that foster.

Although his future is bright, Casper has a really horrible back story.  Casper was found wandering the streets emaciated with a tight chain choking his neck & dragging behind him.  But that isn’t even the worst part.  Apparently, he had stepped in acid, which had burned through his toes, exposing bone.  And not only that, the poor thing attempted to lick off the acid, thereby burning his mouth and lips.  Judging by the way he let the vet prod and poke his wounds with nary a protest leads us to believe he had been in that condition for months.  I simply can’t imagine enduring that unbearable pain. 

Yet, despite it all, Casper is a loving, kissy, snuggle bug, who just wants to be loved and safe.  Casper just finished undergoing hydrotherapy on his feet three times a day.  The vet thought he would lose some toes, but they have been able to save them all with lots of hydrotherapy, and Casper’s feet (and mouth!) are feeling much better, and Casper is doing awesome!  He has already beefed up and looks like a beautiful blue that we knew he would be.  In fact, look at his new pictures we took on Saturday (Oct. 20)!  (They are the pictures with the “a” at the end.). 

We think someone really loved this dog once and may be missing him. Whoever raised this dog initially, did not allow him to get into the condition we found him in.  He is dog friendly, cat friendly, and completely housebroken.  He is also EXTREMELY well-mannered.

When he was having hydrotherapy, he would just get right into the bathtub when someone just touched his collar when it's time.  He walks right past the office cat even when it is eating, and he followed his old foster on the Kawasaki Mule as she fed the horses and showed no interest or fear of them.  He seemed to really enjoy running alongside as his former foster mom work on the property.

Casper is great on a leash and gets very excited when you first get it out as he knows he gets to go somewhere with you!  He jumps in the car if  the door is open and is happy to go on a car ride with a big smile on his face. The Vet thought he was about 5, and his teeth look that age, but he acts much younger.  So, we think he is more like 3, and those were just some harder years with extra wear and tear on him.  He has plenty of energy and loves playing with other dogs. 

Casper is now healed up now and is fully vetted.  He weighs in at 60lbs and still could put on a few more before he is completely filled out.  He gets along with everyone and everything and would make an excellent addition to any family!  He has a gorgeous silvery blue coat that gets shinier by the day.  Casper is an easy going guy that has really come full circle from the day he was found.  Let’s find him a new foster or forever home so we can give him a Happy Tail soon!
