Meet Carter! As you can see from the pictures, Carter was not so handsome and in a lot of pain when SHR rescued him from BARC. Poor Carter was confiscated from his horrible owners and ended up at BARC in a dark dingy jail cell. Because of the horrible condition this little guy was in, he didn't stand a chance of getting out of BARC alive until we walked by his cell and could not leave this baby behind. Carter had to be placed under anesthesia by our vet to be shaved because his hair was so matted. So, while he was under, he was neutered as well and is now ready to start his new life as a beautiful, dignified Poodle. Carter seems to be very low-key and has gotten along with every single dog he has come into contact with. Since we pulled more dogs from BARC than we anticipated (as usual!), Carter had to ride loose in a car with 4 other dogs and all did great! He also loves to be loved on. He has been in a foster home now with 2 other dogs and does great. (although he will admit that the really big one does intimidate him a smidge! So he bosses her and she gives him R-E-S-P-E-C-T )
Carter is such a clown. He loves to run around with stuffed toys and throw them in the air to entertain himself or bring them to his foster Mom to throw for him. Sometimes outside he runs around the yard as fast as he can just because he is so happy. He can be high energy, but he is not a needy dog. If you don't want to play when he wants to play, he just amuses himself. Right now he is on his little bed, on his back with his feet in the air playing with a toy and wriggling around. In a few minutes, he will relax and curl up and nap.
He is very smart and he will wait to you to say ok after putting his food dish down before he will make a move towards it to eat. It took us only six times to learn that command!! He is so smart!
He barks at anyone new who comes into the house like “hey, who are you? I’m Carter!” Then after a few minutes, he is friends with them too.
Carter is house trained as well as crate trained. He stays in his bed all night long in a little doggie play pen and he waits for his foster mom to wake up to go outside and do his business.
He likes to eat bones outside by himself, I keep an eye on him from the window, but he will make a funny little whimper sound at the door when he wants to come back in. He is learning to make the same sound at the door when he wants to go out. So that is progress, considering he obviously did not live indoors before.
Carter is precious, adorable, lovable, sweet to everyone & is the thief of hearts of everyone he meets!

Carter is about 3 years old and only about 10lbs. He is solid white with the most gorgeous crystal green eyes.
