Meet sweet Carly! Carly is a one to two year old labish/cattle dogish mix and will love her humans forever! That is a promise.

Many of you have heard of the awful "Corridor of Cruelty" by now. That is where Sanford and Lamont (the Junkyard Dogs) came from. Well, poor Carly was living under an abandoned house in the "Corridor of Cruelty" with her three puppies and foraging for food in the Fiesta parking lot across the street. She disappeared once her puppies were collected and rescued, and we found her a week later at BARC. The darling girl had contracted distemper there, but she recovered quickly and is now fine.

Carly is now ready for her new loving home. Carly is a total love bug to humans and is only 31 pounds, so she thinks she's a lapdog. She is getting along with her foster mom's dogs now but it has taken some work. Her foster mom believes she could live with another dog as long as she is introduced slowly and given some time. Carly doesn't like cats at all . . . she thinks they would be a good snack. She has mastered the dog door and is almost completely housebroken. She loves her walks and walks pretty well on the leash unless she sees a cat.

Carly is a bit food aggressive which is no surprise with life as a corridor dog. Her foster mom feeds her in the crate, and she has no problem going into the crate. She runs past the other dogs into the crate each morning.

Carly would be fine with older kids. We think she might knock small children down trying to give kisses, but we are working on that. She is just so grateful to be off the streets that she wants to give affection constantly.

In sum, Carly is very sweet with humans, but has been a street dog all her life and may need help settling into a new household as a pet. She's also been moved around a lot - couldn't help it with the distemper and initial lack of a foster home - so she'll need a patient owner who understands that she may have some security issues at first.

But she's worth it. She's a wonderful little dog.
