Cain

Meet Cain! Scout's Honor received a call from a volunteer Friday afternoon about a middle aged rottie (turns out our big boy is likely between 8-10 years old) tied up by the Farmer's Market on Airline. Apparently this poor dog had been there all day in the sweltering heat with no food or water. The workers at the Farmer's Market told us that a white van pulled up Friday morning with a few guys and some kids and they took Cain out of the van and tied him to a post right at the street and drove off, never to return for this sweet boy.

Cain is very, very, sweet and luckily the Farmer's Market people had given him water and were pouring water on him to keep him cool throughout the day. Thank goodness a Scout's Honor volunteer happened by and saw that this poor dog had been abandoned. He was in rough shape and was covered in fleas and mud (close to one of the worst cases I've seen in some time) like he's probably been kept outdoors his whole life without much care, but despite it all, he has a wonderful spirit and loves people. He is just the gentlest, most easy going dog with all people and seems fine with other dogs too. This poor baby has endured years of neglect! He has noticeable hip issues (which we are treating with pain meds.), his right ear has a huge knot where the ear canal has closed due to an ear infection that was never treated, thus he's deaf in that ear. Maybe you can be the one to turn his luck around and watch him transform from an ugly duckling into a swan. Please don't let this sweet boy's advanced age make you shy away, he can still provide all the love and affection that you could ask for.

Cain loves to be right by his foster mom and just like a typical Rottie, he follows her around everywhere. Cain would do wonderful in a home where he could just lounge around and enjoy life. Probably would do best in a low key environment without small children. He has an amazing spirit and just is an incredibly happy boy!
