Blaze 2

Please meet our handsome boy Blaze. He is a Golden Retriever & Shepherd mix with the most beautiful Golden coat in a “flat coated retriever” sort of way. He was mixed in with a group of dogs picked up by BARC and you may have seen our recent postings for them titled “Bolivia Street Pups”.  Blaze just might be one of their fathers & was part of the pack of 5 males that stayed with the puppies. He is about 2 years old and weighs around 53 pounds with some weight gain in his near future maybe maxing out at around 60 pounds. We have yet to catch the mother pup, but will continue to work to save all the dogs in this pack. It is our understanding that the momma dog is spayed as someone captured her, then spayed and put her back in the same location. That is a tad bit of good news, just wish they would have held on to her. Now she is even more afraid from all the commotion of her attempted capture. Glad we were able to get Blaze from BARC in the nick of time.

Blaze’s temperament is shy and quiet for now but the vet techs have stated he is making daily improvements and coming out of his shell. Some nice people were feeding the group of dogs when they were on the streets which might be why he looks so good in the photos and not in a malnourished state. Amazingly, he is heartworm negative. Yippee on that for sure!  Maybe because he was someone’s dog at some point and on Heartguard or maybe just luck. Regardless, being heartworm negative is monumental for a street dog.

Blaze needs a foster ASAP!!  My guess is he will be like velcro until he settles in-  so anyone looking for a snuggle?  He did great with other dogs and seems scared of the kitties.
