Meet adorable Benny!


Benny was found dehydrated and starving, wandering the streets in a daze 3 miles south of Reliant Stadium. He kept lying down due to weakness. We took him food and water, and he followed us home wagging his tail the whole way. Benny is a male American Staffordshire Terrier mix with a passive, roll-over-on-my-belly attitude towards life. Due to his exceptional personality we named him Benny Goodman. Benny is about 18 months old, and is a sweet, loving dog. He likes every person he meets, including our postman. He seems like the kind of dog who could become a therapy dog because everyone is his new best friend. His favorite activity is to curl up in your lap, or roll over on his back beside you. He is a quiet dog, and very rarely barks. His voice is a deep, mellow woof. He is crate-trained and will settle down for hours happily. He loves squeaky toys, and does not tear up his toys. He will sometimes chew up a fluffy toy or a towel corner, but he is not a destructive chewer. He is a great companion dog, and wants to stay by your side. He also likes to play fetch, and will try to impress you by running quickly in a big circle. And he rides well in the car. Benny is the kind of dog who will lie next to you on the couch to watch a movie. He learns quickly and he is very sensitive; when corrected, he changes his behavior immediately. Benny has shown no food aggression, even when we first met him and he was starving. He will actually stop eating food to receive affection, that's his priority. Benny always has a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. He is a joyful dog, in spite of the evidence that life has not been good to him in the past. Benny loves to play with other dogs.
