Benny

Meet Benny! You may remember the story of Benny and Joon.  They were picked up as strays by Harris County Animal Control back in September looking pretty near death. When we received the email about these two we knew we had to act fast because they were scheduled to be put to sleep. They both were severely emaciated, had virtually no hair on their bodies and were infested with just about every type of worm and parasite you can imagine. They were so malnourished that they walked like a broken down old man. We got them immediately to our emergency vet where they had to spend a several weeks before they were healthy enough to go to a foster home to start their road to recovery. While at the vet we also discovered that Benny had a bottle cap in his stomach, likely from having to resort to eating trash to survive.  We also think due to their ages and being found together that they may be father and daughter.

Well, after a few month of serious TLC, Benny has transformed into a mighty handsome and debonair Husky.  He had the bottle cap surgically removed when he was neutered and there were no problems with the removal at all.  The vet guesses he’s about 3-4 years old.   

While they were recovering, they were in a temp. foster home and did well.  When they started to gain back their energy, they went to the dog park frequently and did great playing with other dogs.  Benny is used to being in a crate from boarding, so he would do just fine being crated while unsupervised.  Benny is a little on the shy side when he first meets new people (can you blame him?), but he warms up and is just a super sweetie.  He has done great with all of the dogs he has met, but would do best in a home without cats.

Benny really needs to get out of boarding and into a foster home where he can continue to thrive while he waits for his forever home.
