Hi, My name is Bart.   I am a young (about 3 years old) male Llasa Apso and I weigh 22 pounds.   I am completely vetted and ready to go.  I am neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots and flea prevention medication.

I am one of the lucky pups rescued from LaPorte pound.  When I was rescued, I was in desperate need of a grooming for my long flowing hair.  It was necessary for me to get a short sporty cut for now.  

I am a little firecracker!   I love to run and play and kick up my heels!  It feels so good to be able to be frisky again.  I love to leap and jump and pass out kisses for free!  I love play time!   I just can't get enough stretching of my cute little legs!    I sing "Zippity-do-da" as I zip by.

Mom took me to the small dog park last weekend and I had a ball!   I had such fun playing tag with the other small dogs at the park.   I was really sweet with all the dogs and people.   Plus I slept really well that night since I exercised my little heart out! 

If you want to adopt a dog but you are not able to deal with puppy house training, then I am definitely your little man!  I am completely house trained and crate trained.   I let my people know when I need to go outside for a potty break.   I will give a sharp bark to my foster mom and touch her gently with my paw.   Mom understands my signal and we go out for a potty break.   Everything is great with our communication system.    It works like a charm for us!

I love to go on walks around my neighborhood.  I go walking with Mom in the morning after breakfast and then again in the evening.   I like to see what's going on in the neighborhood and I take care of business on my walks.   Mom takes her large foster dog and me walking at the same time and we walk great together.   We both stop courteously for each other to take care of business and then we resume walking side by side at a nice easy walking pace.    

I love to be petted and brushed by my foster mom.   I absolutely love to cuddle with Mom on the couch while she watches t.v. at night.   If my forever family allows me on the couch or bed, that would absolutely be heaven for me!  I have two other dogs in my foster dog family.  I get along great with the other dogs since I recognize them as part of my dog pack.    I play tug with the large foster dog.   We love to play together with our stuffed toys. I am a great alarm system too.  I will bark when there are people close to my home outside.  Other than that, I am not noisy around the house.  I love to look out the windows by the front door so I can guard my home.   

According to the "Dog Bible", the Lhasa Apso is one of three companion breeds native to Tibet.  Dogs of this type were known in Tibet for hundreds of years, where they gave warning of intruders at monasteries and temples. The people of Tibet so prized the Lhasa Apso that the dogs were never sold; instead, they were given as gifts to people held in high esteem by the Dalai Lama.  The first pair of Lhasa Apsos came to the United States in 1933 as gifts from the Dalai Lama to an American naturalist who was visiting Tibet.
