Amarillo (Amy)

Believe it or not, my mother is a Golden Retriever! (see her picture?!) Dad? Well, probably a lab. But I'm all golden girl in heart. Here's the low down from my foster mom: 

Amy is a sweet and young Golden/ Black Lab Mix. She is returning to Golden Beginnings from a prior adoption that did not work out. Her prior adopter states that the “other dogs in the home would not accept Amy without conflict. Amy is WONDERFUL, it is all on the other pets!”. 

In Amy’s new environment she gets along very well with other dogs that can tolerate her puppy behavior and need to play. She is leery of the resident cat and doesn’t want to engage her often. Instead, Amy choses to walk a wide circle around her or steer clear altogether. Kids love Amy and she enjoys their attention and their eagerness to play fetch!

Amy is crate trained and fully house trained. However, she also will sleep the entire night on her own doggy bed or in the “human” bed. Whichever she is allowed to do! Amy knows a few commands but needs to work on her doggy manners. She is a typical puppy, but is eager to learn! She is very smart and will pick up on training quickly.

Because Amy is only 7 months old she still has a lot of energy during the day. She likes to play a lot, but will stop for her morning or afternoon nap. She will lie at your feet, curl up in a kennel, find a bed or sleep right next to her foster brother. Because she has so much energy Amy needs to be walked on a regular basis and allowed to play with other animals or people daily.

Amy favorite activity is to play ball. She will retrieve all day if allowed! She is very toy driven so treats are not always necessary to get her to follow commands. She is very affectionate and a pleaser. Her new foster family absolutely adores her and finds her very easy to manage. Amy has a lot of love to give and would do best with family who has time to work with her and other young dogs to play with. 

Amy will make a great addition to any home! She will need to attend a puppy class! . She is spayed, current on all vaccinations and heartworm negative!
