Achilles

Friends,

Meet our handsome, handsome Achilles!!  This poor baby came into the emergency room one night.  Or rather, he was tied to front door and left by either the rotten people who hurt him or someone that tried to get him away from them. Achilles was burnt all over- we think he was doused with some sort of acid.  One of the vet techs was determined to rescue him and called us to ask if we could help. After a LOT of TLC and painfully scrubbing bathes, Achilles still has some scars, but is a happy boy today. 

Achilles is a gorgeous red-nosed Pit & is very much a people-dog. He is 65—70 pounds and approx 3 years old.  Achilles is a wonderfully smart guy.  He knows all his commands and is very loyal to his "person".  He has the most spectacular memory.  Once he loves you, it doesn't matter how long until he sees you again, he will love you forever.  He is house-trained, crate-trained and a dream on a leash.

Achilles’ favorite thing in the world to do is swim.  He will swim in the pool for hours until you make him get out.  He is so crazy about it, that he got a wet suit for winter so that he could still go for a quick swim.  That being said, if possible, we would love for Achilles to go to a home where he has a pool. Tall request, I know.  But his love for swimming is remarkable & he is a different dog today because of this gift he has found.  Achilles will leap into the pool, chase the water hose, swim and bark at the same time, and he even climbs onto the floats to surf around the pool.  He could give Michael Phelps a run for his money!

Because of Achilles' mistreatment in the past, he can tend to feel threatened by other dogs and needs to be an only dog.  He is absolutely fantastic with children and would make a very loyal family pet.  I share a burger with Achilles once a month as a treat.  He actually eats off a fork if you feed him that way.  Ever patient, waiting for the next bite.  He knows when burger day is and looks forward to it!
