Abbey

Rottweiler (short coat) • Female • Young • Large

My name is Abbey and I am looking for a forever home.  I am a 1-2 year old Rottweiler, so I’ve got lots of energy.  You and I can go on long walks and play ball.  I love toys and my foster parents keep me well stocked with ones to play and chew on.  I like playing tug-of-war with an old rope, but you have to be strong because I pull hard. I’m a very strong girl.  But don’t let my strength and looks intimidate you.  I am a gentle sweetheart and just want you to love on me.

I do like to play chase…where I run and you try to catch me.  That is a fun game!  But sometimes if a door is left open just long enough, I sprint out and my foster parents don’t like that too much.  We’re practicing coming back when I hear my new name.  But I don’t quite have that command down yet or my name.  I’m working hard on it though.  I think I’ll get it one day, but until then, we should walk on a leash or play in a fenced area and of course watch open doors.  I haven’t chewed anything I’m not supposed to and I can wander inside responsibly.  I am potty-trained.  And, I am not possessive of my food, so you can put your hand in my bowl while I eat or take my food bowl away.  I don’t mind.  Don’t get me wrong though, I do like food, but being near you is my favorite.  I like looking outside the window and front door.  If I see something strange or something cool, I’ll bark to let you know that you might want to check it out.  But usually I’m quiet as a mouse.

My foster parents have three other dogs and I mostly get along with them.  They haven’t gotten used to me, so even though I bug them to play, they are not quite ready to play with me yet.  But I keep trying to win them over.  They probably mind me more than I mind them.  I get along best with the youngest, Bella, but she is the alpha of our dog pack.  She lets me know what toys I can play with or if she wants me to leave her alone.  I pay attention.

I like being in a confident home with structure. It makes me feel safe.  We have a good structure established and I’m starting to get the hang of our routine.  I really am a good girland my foster mom tells me that every day.  Hopefully you’ll want to get to know me more and maybe you and I can be best friends.
