The Dude

Meet “The Dude”!  The Dude wandered up to one of our volunteer’s homes and into their hearts approximately 5 months back.  Remember the lovely Houston winter earlier this year?  Not-so-long-ago we were all dealing with sub-freezing temperatures on a daily basis. Well, on one of the more frigid nights (below freezing), Dude wandered across their path as they were entering their cozy house, and they just couldn’t let the little guy freeze his little paws off outside. He would have been a cat-sicle before daybreak.  The Dude needs a foster!

The Dude is fully vetted, neutered, and vaccinated.  He is also litter box trained.  He currently lives on the second-floor of our volunteers’ humble abode, but they unfortunately cannot keep him because their dogs go after him for some reason.  They do have a girl kitty, and Dude gets along great with her.  The Dude wouldn’t mind being friends with the doggies either if they were nicer to him.

The Dude really is a loveable guy, and a sweeter, more gentle cat you’ll never find.  He’s a big ole’ purr-monster, given the opportunity to nuzzle your neck, and likes nothing more than to have his belly rubbed and behind his ears scratched.  He doesn’t seem to have an issue scratching up the house, but he’s got a scratch-pad that his rescuers keep in the cat’s room that seems to suffice for all his claw-sharpening needs. 
He’s a feisty one, and going to the vet isn’t his favorite thing on earth. Confined spaces tend to make him a little crazy & wild.  Just so you know when it is vet time!

Overall, he’s a VERY loveable, playful, purr-monster that someone is missing very much right now. When he first walked up, his rescuer felt his pads, and they were very, very soft (meaning, he’s an indoor cat), so we could only assume that he jetted out an open door out of fear or something worse.  He subsequently got lost, and landed in Scout’s Honor’s program.  His rescuers posted signs everywhere, to no avail.  No one came forward to claim him, although I’m not sure why as he’s the sweetest boy kitty ever.

We’re looking for someone to foster him until he can be adopted.  Is there anyone out there that can help?
