Dempsey

Meet Dempsey! Dempsey is a sweet little brown fuzzball. We don't know what kind of dog he is but he sure is a sweetheart - maybe Golden Retriever/Lab Mix. He is not that big and weighs about 40 pounds. As you can tell from his pictures, he has a bandage on his foot and you may be wondering what is going on with that. Well, when we went to BARC at the first of February to save a bunch of dogs, we saw Dempsey sitting in his run cowering in the corner. Disturbingly, we noticed his back foot which was swollen and had absolutely no skin on it! It looked like his foot had been peeled like a banana, with exposed pieces of bone. The bones in Dempsey's foot were broken and some of the bones were severely infected and diseased due to no treatment being received for his injury.

Luckily for Dempsey, our vet was able to save his foot and only had to remove two toes. He is doing well now, walking and playing great on his foot and is loving life at his foster home. He is a very sweet boy and loves the attention he is now getting. In his house, he is a happy-go-lucky boy that enjoys running around and playing. However, when he leaves his house he gets a bit scared and puts his tail between his legs. He is also pretty frightened of cars when they go by and will shy away from them.  No doubt a result of a hard life on the mean streets.  He is a young boy and has the energy you would expect, and we have been told that he likes to run across the living room and use a footstool as a springboard and leap up in the air. It's too funny and demonstrated his agility. He is just a little bundle of fun, but still likes to slow down and hang out on the couch with his foster parents.  He's a super cool boy and everyone that meets him just loves our little guy.

Dempsey loves other dogs and loves to play.  He's a social guy and loves every other dog he meets!  CHECK HIM OUT playing with his foster sis, Scout's Honor's Shirley Temple (available for adoption too!).

Dempsey is set to find his forever home!  He's neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped.
